Method: measuring density, also known as specific gravity.
For measuring the density of solids and liquids. You don't need to know about liquids. Solids include gold and silver, especially coins. The density test involves only water, you do not have to file the coin (which you must do when using both acids and electronic testers) - read my short article
about how it works.
This is a one-off product, it's a sample. It is an old model, it's replacement is MDS-3000, available on the internet (not from us!) at $2950.00 (about £2300.00) + tax. I decided not to sell these as a regular line, because I don't think my particular customers would pay this much...so I just want to get rid of the sample, and that's why it's so cheap.
We tested this thoroughly so we know it works, and we know what is involved.
Once it is set up and you know what you're doing, each test really does take only a couple of minutes, but please do not ask, "Is it easy to use", you do have to put a little work into this. This is what to expect when you first open the box:
15mns to very carefully unpack and assemble it
25mns to study the instruction manual and try to work out what it means
20mns minutes for the machine to warm up
5mns to carry out the first test.
This is a one-off product, we do not have any more. We have tested it thoroughly but we cannot give after-sales support - because we don't have another one here to compare, we couldn't tell you if you are using it correctly or if you are getting the correct results.
If this worries you, please do not buy this, please buy one at the full price with fulll support.
We also sell a low-cost Specific Gravity Attachment
that you can use with a small (e.g. pocket) scale. Pocket scales normally read down to 0.01g/cm3 or 0.001g/cm3: compare and contrast.
