QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Ask a Question-
Will this test for jade
When you test a stone on this tester, the display gives the answer as a selection of possible stones. This is because the readings overlap, see our chart .
As you notice,a "jade" reading is unlikely to be spinel, it can't possibly be glass, chrysoberyl, topal ruby/sapphire or diamond. But it could be one of ten other gemstone groups. That is how gem testers work, they give you possibilities not an absolute answer, and it's up to you to decide which of the tester's "possibilities" apply. This particular tester is good because it will filter the results by colour. So if the tester suggests the reading could be one of five stones, select "green" and it might reduce the selection to two or three.
In real life it's not that complicated. If you collect jade you would not test a deep blue cabachon or a white sparkly stone or a semi-translucent figurine - you would know these cannot be jade. -
can it identify moissanite from diamond?
No.
