DESCRIPTION

Silver plating solution, rub it on, and it doesn't rub off!

Works best on copper-based metals, brass, bronze, EPNS (electroplated nickel-silver) and Sheffield Plate.

Works on nickel providing the nickel hasn't be processed with a coating.
Will not work on chrome or steel (it goes on...it comes off)
Will not work on filigree (it doesn't like the gaps).

This is a 'consumable' and cannot be returned, so before buying,  find out what your item is made of.

See an article about cleaning and plating silver.

INSTRUCTIONS

This item does not come with instructions so please make a note of this:

Wear gloves (it stains).

  • Apply with a cottonwool bud (works best) or a cotton cloth (uses less solution).
  • Rub on for 10 or 15 seconds.
  • Apply another layer. Each layer makes the silver brighter, so keep applying until it's the same colour as the rest of the item.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • Will this work on 9ct gold

    Yes.

But why would anyone want to plate 9ct with silver?

  • Is it ok to use on spoons that will be used?

    Yes.

  • Do I need anything other than a cloth and the silver plating solution? I thought you needed a magnet or electrode or something?

Yes, just a cloth or cotton wool buds, it's not electroplating.

  • Hello! Would this ship to Latvia?

    No.

  • How is the silver plate applied to the item?

A soft cotton cloth, cotton wool, even tissue.
I find that cotton wool works best but it soaks up an awful lot of the liquid. A cotton cloth is more economical.

  • Will it work on silver plated forks where the silver plating is wearing off.

    Yes.
